Hello. I hope you’ve had a great first week of March!
This has been a bit of a busy week for me partly because my dance studio had its first showcase of the year this past Saturday.
This past week I finished the first week of lessons for my new course, Advanced Interface Design, which uses Android Studio and Google’s Material Design principles, danced in my studio’s showcase, completed the LinkedIn Learning course on Building High-Performing Teams, started a new book called How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams, and watched the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Overall, a busy but awesome start to the month.
Some things I’ve learned this past week are:
- Ben Franklin has better-priced drawing pens than Fishers Hawaii
- Material Design is based on a set of UI principles including using bold graphic design, motion, and UI elements that exist in a 3D space like real objects to create intuitive interfaces
- Always set commit and stretch goals if you want to promote growth
- My favorite chant this week is “Miz and Morrison! Hey Hey! Ho Ho!” and repeat
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you have a great week! Here’s a happy drawing I did a couple of days ago to start your week off with some cheer.
Sincerely,
Mulan Lau
