Hello. I hope you’ve had a great week even with all the crazy virus-related stuff going on.

This past week has been busy and not at the same time, it’s weird. Over the course of the week, I learned a lot more about Android apps and designing them using Material Design concepts, continued watching a Designer-Client Agreement/Contract course, chauffeured my little sister to her activities, went social dancing, and reached out regarding a potential career opportunity for when I graduate at the end of the year. Not a bad week at all, but I do feel as though I could have gotten a bit more done. I’m also currently reading How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams. It’s a great book and I’m learning about the importance of establishing processes over setting goals.

Some things I’ve learned this past week are:

  • Styles are a great way to easily customize features of your android app
  • Alt-text is not the same as a caption and the values should, therefore, be different
  • Dancing as the man/lead in ballroom uses a lot more shoulder/arm muscle probably because you use your upper body to lead (I love being a girl, following is much easier in my opinion)
  • Scoping the work in a contract should define project parameters, the time required, resources needed, the complexity of work, and the value to the client (this determines your fees & expenses)

I hope you have a great week! Stay healthy and wash your hands a LOT!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Mulan Lau
