Hello. I hope you’ve had a great week. I’ve learned so much about marketing and everything else that goes on post app release. It’s fascinating to learn all about the planning that is required for an app to even hope to be successful. I’m really enjoying this class on the business side of mobile development. I’ve also been brainstorming ideas for NaNoWriMo next month and, of course, figuring out what I’m going to dress up as for Halloween! What are you dressing up as for Halloween? Are you doing NaNoWriMo?

Some of the things I’ve learned this past week are:

  • Press packs are very important to have when marketing your app to any kind of press (newspaper, magazine, etc)
  • There are 5 primary QA (Quality Assurance) methods: test scripts, black box testing, white box testing, code inspections & reviews, and proofreading
  • QA should take at least as much time and effort as development
  • Post-release tasks to consider include planned updates, user requests, responses to competitors, bug fixes, security issue resolutions, operating system updates, and support for new devices

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you have a great week. Also, don’t forget to get ready for the best holiday of the year, Halloween!!

Sincerely,

Mulan Lau
