Thank You

2023 has been a year filled with ups and downs. I want to begin my reflection by expressing my gratitude for all the blessings in my life. I am grateful for my family, my dogs, my friends, my coworkers, my jobs, my house, my neighbors, books and stories, dancing, pro-wrestling, sleep, and every person and every thing that has touched my life thus far. I am grateful for the ups and the downs, and I am grateful to be here now. To all the amazing people in my life, to myself, and to God, thank you.

Reflection

This past year has been a little chaotic. I’ve suffered a couple losses and felt downs. I’ve been inspired to continue to grow and improve and experienced highs. 2023 was a year of both lots of sadness and lots of joy, of falling down and getting back up. I learned so much this past year and I’ve grown a lot as well.

My word for 2023 was empowered. My primary goals for 2023 were to buy a new car with cash, buy a house, get a dog, and meet my future husband. I accomplished all except the last one. I also saw myself grow a lot professionally. At the beginning of the year, I felt like I was still trying to get my footing at LinkedIn. Now, I feel confident in my foundation of knowledge for my work there and I am proud of how much I’ve grown and improved. I’ve been able to not only contribute to projects but also to help drive them and I’m looking forward to having a bigger impact in 2024.

Overall, 2023 was a good year because I achieved most of my goals and even with all the pain and sadness, I believe I am a better person and in a better place now than I was at the start of the year.

Learnings

I learned so much in 2023. These are just a few of the things I’ve found most important and relevant.

  • Gratitude. Take the time to truly appreciate the people around you, show your love at every chance you get while you have those chances
  • Clarity. Complex problems are so much easier to solve when you break them down into small bite sized pieces and ensure you have complete clarity around each piece and how they fit together
  • Focus. Be intentional on what you focus on. Ensure your focus by setting aside dedicated time for the things that are truly important, the rest will get done if it really matters
  • Communication. The best way to ensure alignment and clarity, to focus, and to connect is through communication. Ask questions, send reminders, follow up, and don’t forget to let your loved ones know they’re in your thoughts

I hope you’ve had a wonderful 2023 and here’s to an even better 2024.

I love you grandma. I love you Blueberry.
