Hello. I hope you’ve had a great week. What is one project you’re proud of working on this past week?

I’ve been busy exploring new opportunities and researching new things. I created a prototype and beta version of my app for this month’s class, Yearbook. If you’re interested in the app or the app development process, check out the Yearbook milestone 1 video. I also spent a nice afternoon working with a friend to help him learn some basic HTML and CSS. Overall, a very productive and enjoyable week.

Some of the things I’ve learned this past week are:

• The easiest way to implement a “list” inside of a scroll view (Android) is to use a linear layout in the scroll view and programmatically add list items (in my case, text views)
• Firestore is great for storing lots of information, but for images and other larger files, Firebase Storage is the feature to use
• Bitmaps can be a pain as they aren’t Serializable
